The CRU will provide assistance throughout the mediation process for cases that have been deemed eligible and suitable for mediation (after the assessment has concluded and all parties have agreed to mediation as the mechanism for conflict resolution). This service covers:
- Mediator selection
In some cases, the parties may choose the assessor to also act as the mediator.
However, if all parties involved in the conflict require a mediator or a team of mediators, the CRU will conduct a selection process to choose an experienced mediator or experienced team of mediators that can be accepted by all parties.
The CRU will design a Terms of Reference for the mediator alongside all parties involved, select a suitable mediator candidate and recommend a mediator or team of mediators that can be accepted by all parties.
- Monitoring and evaluation
The mediation process will be conducted by the chosen mediator, while the CRU will monitor and evaluate the process to ensure it is based on best practice.
- Monitor implementation
If required, the CRU will monitor the implementation of any agreement reached as a result of the mediation. This is important to ensure the conflict is completely resolved.
