K&L Gates Grows German Antitrust, Competition, and Trade Regulation Practice with Addition of Frankfurt Partner
11 Mei 2021Frankfurt – Global law firm K&L Gates LLP has added Dr. Jens Steger as a partner in the antitrust, competition, and trade regulation practice. He joins K&L Gates’ Frankfurt office from Simmons & Simmons LLP, where he was coordinating the firm’s antitrust and competition practice.
Steger focuses on German and EU antitrust, competition, and compliance law, advising clients on a range of matters including antitrust follow-on damages claims and litigation, compensation claims, merger control and clearances, abuse of dominance proceedings before the Federal Cartel Office and the European Commission, and cartel and international investigations, among others. He also counsels clients on Compliance Management Systems as well as on horizontal and vertical cooperation agreements, research and development agreements, and joint ventures.
Berlin partner Dr. Annette Mutschler-Siebert, a co-coordinator of K&L Gates’ global antitrust, competition, and trade regulation practice, commented: “While the enlarged team will continue to advise across all areas of competition law, the arrival of Jens Steger also adds a stronger focus on follow-on damages claims and structuring of compliance systems, which nicely complements the current team’s particular capabilities in structuring distribution systems and advising on horizontal and vertical (R&D and technology) collaborations and joint ventures.”
Steger’s addition follows last year’s arrival of a seven-member restructuring team in Frankfurt, including partner Dr. Georg Bernsau. They are among the nearly 70 partners or of counsel who have joined the firm since January 2020.
“Jens Steger ideally complements our antitrust practice,” said Dr. Rüdiger von Hülst, managing partner of K&L Gates’ German offices. “He has achieved extraordinary successes in recent years, particularly in the enforcement of antitrust damages actions for numerous clients. We are pleased to have gained another experienced member for our German antitrust team.”
K&L Gates’ antitrust, competition, and trade law practice group is positioned in strategic markets around the globe, including the United States, Europe, Australia, and Asia, to help clients minimize antitrust risks and ensure compliance; defend or pursue litigation; get deals through regulatory authorities; provide guidance in pricing, distribution, and brand protection challenges; and leverage antitrust and competition laws.
