Washington, D.C. – Global law firm K&L Gates LLP has added Geoffrey Greeves to the Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice area. He joins the firm’s Washington, D.C., office from Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP.

Greeves recovers insurance proceeds for corporate policyholders in disputed claims, coverage litigation matters, and adversary proceedings through arbitration, mediation, and negotiation. He frequently handles business tort litigation, from inception through appeal, and is known for monetizing contested insurance claims involving business interruption, contingent business interruption, first-party catastrophe, property damage claims, and bad faith/extra-contractual insurance disputes with insurance carriers.

Greeves has tried more than a dozen commercial litigation matters, handling several jury trials, and obtained one of the largest insurance coverage jury verdicts in the United States. Spanning more than 25 years, his insurance recovery practice involves man-made and natural disasters resulting in numerous eight-figure settlements.

Greeves uses his insurance products and prior claims experience to provide legal advice to clients at renewal and in connection with non-routine insurance manuscript products. His industry knowledge encompasses commercial real estate, microchip, retail, government contracts, aviation, traditional energy, renewables, education, technology, heavy industry, and marine risks.

“As an accomplished litigator and trial lawyer, Geoffrey complements and further strengthens our premier Insurance Recovery and Counseling practice group,” said Melissa Tea, a leader of K&L Gates’ global Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice. “Our clients will benefit from Geoffrey’s valuable experience and insights across multiple key industries, and we are excited that he has chosen to grow his practice with K&L Gates.”

Greeves’ arrival follows the addition of several other new partners to the Washington, D.C., office during the last year, including Jamie Jackson, former senior counsel to former US House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer; Matt Leggett, former minority chief counsel with the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee; and Mike Evans, former chief majority counsel and deputy staff director for the US Senate Finance Committee, as well as energy tax partner Marty Pugh.

David Wochner, managing partner of K&L Gates’ Washington, D.C., office, stated: “Geoffrey’s experience handling complex business litigation benefits our clients here in the District and across the nation. We are excited to welcome him to the team.”

K&L Gates’ global Insurance Recovery and Counseling practice assists policyholders in managing and mitigating risk by maximizing insurance recoveries and optimizing insurance arrangements. The team is familiar with a broad spectrum of issues policyholders face, from the traditional (such as product liability claims and property/business interruption losses) to the modern (such as cyberattacks and data liability).
