Advances + challenges for Indigenous Rights on the 75th anniversary of UDHR
11 Desember 2023jamie
Many positive developments for Indigenous Peoples’ rights have taken place since the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Many more spaces have opened up for Indigenous participation, and new agreements protecting the rights of Indigenous Peoples have been adopted, yet, respect for the rights of Indigenous Peoples around the world remains far from fulfilled. In many parts of the world today, Indigenous Peoples are still facing grave human rights abuses and challenges. A great deal of work is needed to bring the issues of human rights of Indigenous Peoples to the front and center of global discussions. At this event, we will reflect on the achievements of the global Indigenous rights movement, and address the work still left to do to fulfill the promise of human rights for Indigenous Peoples.
