An Expression of Gratitude from CRU: Building Sustainability Together
22 December 2023CRU has been working to develop and strengthen its institutional foundations, in order that in the upcoming years it can contribute, although small and limited, yet meaningful in the great effort of handling land and natural resource conflicts in development.
We have been supported by various parties in this effort. Therefore, we are using this December 2023 edition of Layang Damai to inform you of our transformation and to express our appreciation to all those who have cooperated and supported us.
Since the beginning of our journey in 2016, we have received tremendous support from various parties. We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank everyone who has lent their support to our efforts in creating a solid foundation for our journey. The challenges of the number and distribution of conflicts as obstacles to development efforts are still very much real, and the year 2023 will soon pass. However, we are determined to overcome these challenges with your continued support.
Since 2016, CRU has achieved significant milestones in promoting sustainability and respecting human rights through a conflict-sensitive approach to development, thanks to the unwavering support and assistance of several Ministries/Institutions (K/L) such as the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) and the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), as well as various local governments in different regions. Without their support, our accomplishments would not have been as remarkable. We would also like to extend our gratitude to all the mediation and conflict resolution practitioners who have contributed to the development of our programs.
Furthermore, we would like to express our deep appreciation to the academics from leading universities such as Parahyangan Catholic University, Brawijaya University, University of Indonesia, and Gadjah Mada University. Their contributions and critical insights have greatly enriched our perspectives and assisted us in overcoming complex challenges while striving towards achieving our sustainability goals.
We are also immensely grateful for the support of civil society organizations and donors, who have been a crucial pillar in the implementation of our CRU program. We firmly believe that these partnerships will continue to grow and evolve, leading to greater positive impact in the future.
We also acknowledge and value the contributions of several land-based and natural resource companies who have played a significant role as collaborative learning partners. This has been instrumental in upholding our principles of sustainability and respect for human rights and has been a key driver of positive change.
Additionally, we extend our sincere appreciation to the advisors of the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), the Institutional Independence Committee (KKL), and the Steering Committee for their invaluable assistance in the implementation of the CRU program and the process towards institutional independence. We firmly believe that this step will enhance our effectiveness and allow us to create a more significant positive impact in the future. We plan to transition into an independent institution, separating ourselves from the incubation of IBCSD and KADIN, and our continuously growing portfolio since 2016 serves as a strong foundation for our future.
As a token of gratitude, we would also like to recognize the members of the Institutional Transition Team who have tirelessly worked towards laying the foundation for CRU’s transformation, from a learning project to an independent institution, which will not only benefit us today but also generations to come.
Lastly, on this special occasion, CRU would like to wish a Merry Christmas to all those celebrating, and a Happy New Year 2024. May we all be blessed with good health and smooth functioning in carrying out our duties. Let us continue to build a sustainable future and have a positive impact on all. Once again, we would like to thank you for your continuous support and collaboration.
