There are 4 important steps to ensure a successful mediation:
Intake and Pre-assessment: Not every conflict can be resolved through mediation. Therefore, assessment of each case is required to determine the relative suitability of mediation. The CRU will conduct the pre-assessment.
Assessment: The CRU will gather all information that pertains to the case, including the background and history, and the objectives of various parties involved in the conflict. The result of the assessment and any recommendations will be shared with all parties.
Mediation: This involves discussion between all the parties involved in the conflict to identify the problem/s, consider various solutions or compromises, and try to come to an agreement with the assistance of a fair and unbiased mediator or a team of mediators.
Post-mediation: This involves monitoring the implementation of any agreement reached as a result of the mediation.
