K&L Gates Further Deepens Intellectual Property Practice with Houston Partner Addition
5 April 2022Houston – Global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Collin Rose as a partner in the intellectual property group. Rose joins the firm’s Houston office from Chamberlain, Hrdlicka, White, Williams & Aughtry, PC, where he was chair of the intellectual property and technology & IP transactions practices. His arrival follows the addition of IP partners Hannah Koyfman and David Lu and their 10-person patent team in Boston last month, as well as the additions of a team of IP lawyers in Japan, new IP partners in Melbourne, Portland, Orange County, Seattle, San Francisco, Chicago, Austin, and Nashville, and the establishment of an IP Agency in China all during the past year.
Rose has experience in working with both in-house legal departments for large multinational companies as well as clients without legal departments in need of broad-ranging, extensive involvement from counsel. For more than two decades, he has cultivated substantial knowledge in many aspects of intellectual property law, with particular focus in the energy, HVAC, manufacturing, processing, chemical, semiconductor, medical device/treatment, software, and computer technology industries.
Bob Barrett, a co-leader of K&L Gates’ intellectual property practice area, commented: “We are thrilled to have Collin join our ranks. Not only have we added another top notch lawyer to our IP practice, but his team allows us the ability to provide first rate patent prosecution services out of our Houston office-affording us a full service IP offering across the length of Texas.”
Rose is among the more than 115 new partners and of counsel who have joined the firm globally since the beginning of 2020. As its IP practice continues to grow, K&L Gates remains the only globally financially integrated law firm able to offer clients IP services across four continents.
“We are delighted to welcome Collin to the Houston office and the firm,” said Anil Patel, managing partner of K&L Gates’ Houston office. “Collin’s strong knowledge in patent prosecution along with his reputation in the market will allow him to continue to provide high quality intellectual property advice to his clients, as well as grow his client base. With the firm’s global platform, Collin will be able to broaden the offerings to his clients to include IPRs, M&A and corporate law, and other areas.”
K&L Gates’ IP practice has more than 200 lawyers and professionals – including more than 100 registered patent lawyers, agents, and technology specialists with technical or advanced science degrees, nearly 30 with doctorates – who devote their practices to helping clients establish, enforce, and leverage their intellectual property rights worldwide. Through its members across the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, and Australia, K&L Gates’ IP practice filed more than 5,500 patent applications and 4,500 trademarks worldwide in 2021.
