The intellectual property practice of global law firm K&L Gates LLP has been recognized by The Legal 500 United States guide with a ranking in the Trademarks: non-contentious (including prosecution, portfolio management and licensing) category.

In addition, six IP lawyers were ranked or recommended by the publication, including Newark partner Frank Politano, who was named to the publication’s “Hall of Fame” for Trademarks: non-contentious, a designation that recognizes individuals who have repeatedly been ranked as “Leading Lawyers” and received strong praise for continued excellence. Other lawyers noted included Chicago-based partner Bob Barrett and Melbourne-based partner Jonathan Feder, both leaders of K&L Gates’ global intellectual property practice area; Seattle partner Pam Jacobson; Boston partner David Byer; and Washington, D.C., partner Susan Kayser.

The practice advises a number of high-profile clients, including Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister, Procter and Gamble, Kipling, and Helly Hensen. Recent matters include acting as the primary U.S. trademark and copyright counsel for the Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister brands, representing Kipling in the enforcement and protection of its iconic Kipling bag, and managing the substantial global trademark portfolio for Valve Corporation and the trademark, copyright, and patent portfolios for Stratus Technologies.

Barrett commented: “We are pleased with these rankings and believe they are a testament to our global and integrated IP practice. These recognitions showcase our remarkable lawyers and the depth of our trademarks group.”

“Our IP practice group takes great pride in serving many clients across the globe from a range of offices, said Feder. “These rankings are a reflection of our work across the globe and our strong focus on collaboration.”
