K&L Gates Strengthens Intellectual Property Practice with Charlotte Partner Addition
5 Maret 2024Charlotte – Global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Vincent Galluzzo to the firm’s Intellectual Property practice area as a partner. Galluzzo joins K&L Gates’ Charlotte office from Crowell & Moring LLP where he served as co-chair of the firm’s Trade Secrets working group.
With a technical background in computer and software engineering, Galluzzo focuses his practice on high-tech patent and trade secret litigation, appeals, and software licensing disputes. Leveraging a unique combination of software development experience and an ability to synthesize complex technological matters, Galluzzo has led legal teams toward victories in jury and bench trials in state and federal courts, as well as in post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
In addition to trial work, Galluzzo counsels his clients on open-source software use, intellectual property monetization strategies, portfolio management, and licensing for software and other types of intellectual property. Galluzzo routinely counsels companies in transactions involving tens of millions of dollars in intellectual property assets.
“Vince’s relentless dedication to cutting-edge advancements will strongly benefit our clients throughout our global IP practice area and firm,” said Bob Barrett, a leader of K&L Gates’ Intellectual Property practice area. “His experience working in the technology and software industries affords him an impressive and valuable perspective that will greatly enhance our practice.”
Galluzzo’s arrival follows the additions of several IP hires in the past year, including Charlotte partner David Easwaran and a six-person, multi-office patent team, Los Angeles partner Ryan Keech, and Washington, D.C., counsel Shu Chen. As its IP practice continues to grow, K&L Gates remains the only globally financially integrated law firm able to offer clients IP services across four continents.
“We are very excited to welcome Vince to the Charlotte office,” commented Brett Durham, managing partner of K&L Gates’ Charlotte office. “Vince is an accomplished Intellectual Property litigator, and his addition further strengthens our ability to support our clients’ Intellectual Property needs in the Southeast.”
K&L Gates’ IP practice boasts more than 250 lawyers and professionals – including more than 115 registered patent lawyers, agents, and technology specialists with technical or advanced science degrees, nearly 30 with doctorates – who devote their practices to helping clients establish, enforce, and leverage their intellectual property rights worldwide. The practice filed more than 5,470 patent applications and 4,550 trademarks worldwide in 2023.
